SPIO (São Paulo Impro Orchestra) is a group formed by musicians and sound artists who develop practices around non-idiomatic improvisation and directed improvisation in a hybrid composition, mixing classical orchestra instruments and varied sound sources, such as inventive lutherie, visual projections in tranzcinema and body performances.
SPIO ORQUESTRA - BLACK BOX/2020
CAIXA PRETA is a compilation that brings together live compositions in 3 volumes, extracted from four concerts in four different SPIO ORQUESTRA formations. Records captured in cultural spaces in the city of São Paulo were chosen, including Editora Leviatã, Núcleo Niá, Estúdio Bixiga and Casa das Rosas from March 2018 to October 2019.
The album has the collaboration of more than 30 artists and musicians who currently participate and participated in the project. In this trajectory of the orchestra, Daniel Carrera used the expanded conducting method defined as GUME.
The compilation also addresses the second phase of the work of the orchestra. During three years it has performed on the instrumental circuit of São Paulo including, in addition to music, other modalities such as dance, poetry, visual arts and live image.
