about

Experimental narrative that explores historical research with the sound dimension of a quilombola territory in Bahia, Brazil.

An Interview with the Ialorixà, Mother Juvani Viana, about the quilombo founded by her father in Acupe, the origin of Kaonge. About how her father managed to "enchant" a police troop, that would have arrived to interrupt a religious ritual, led by her father, that was taking place there.

As candomblé was forbidden in Bahia until the 50s of the last century, police repression was great. Once, a ceremony led by her father was interrupted by a patrol. She tells us that her father, in a trance, sang a song to the Orixá Obaluaê, and the three guards spent the whole night in the yard, dancing to the sound of the candomblé drums.
